_The Investigators had a great week. We began to talk about one of the Investigators’ favorite things, firetrucks! We discussed what a firetruck is, what a firetruck does, and some of the parts of a firetruck. On Monday we had creative movement where we got to play with the parachute. We practiced following directions by going slow and fast. We also got to take turns going underneath of the parachute. On Monday we also introduced firetrucks to the class. We pointed out the parts of a firetruck that we know including the wheels, ladder, lights, firefighters, sirens, and hose. On Tuesday we created a chart called ‘What we know about firetrucks’. We did this in small groups and each Investigator came up with something they knew about firetrucks. The responses were impressive from ‘firetrucks are red’, ‘firetrucks put out fires’, and ‘firetrucks have windows’. The Investigators did a great job being focused on this project. On Wednesday we had a rainy day inside. We made the best of it by doing puzzles, play dough, and our favorite centers. We also drew a picture of a firetruck using red, yellow, orange, and black crayons. On Thursday we took sometime to play outside after being kept inside all day on Wednesday! We loved playing with the new balls that are in the front playground. We do a great job at throwing, catching, and kicking the balls. On Friday we had French where we sang songs and marched to French music. We also took sometime to pass around a toy firetruck. We noticed on the toy firetruck that it is has a ladder, wheels, sirens, lights, and windows. The Investigators had a great week!

_The Investigators had a busy, but exciting week! We took advantage of the beautiful weather and did a lot of activities outside. On Tuesday we went to the Helena House to visit our grandfriends for Valentine’s Day. We showed them the Valentine’s Day sign language we knew, sang them a song, and gave them the cards we made. On the way back from the Helena House we stopped by the post office and mailed our Valentine’s Day cards for our Mommys and Daddys. We each got to take a turn mailing our letters in the mail box. On Wednesday we had sign language where we learned all about the letter D. We learned the signs for D, dog, dinosaur, doll, and dirt. We got to read a story about a dinosaur going to school. On Wednesday we also played outside and used chalk to draw railroads and pictures of trains. On Thursday we got to go on another field trip! We took a walk to see the caboose that is across the street from the post office. We loved seeing the caboose and noticed that it is red. On our walk we also got to see alligators, turtles, police officers, fire trucks, and a construction site where they were tearing down a building. We had a great time. In the afternoon we got to celebrate Grayson F.’ s birthday! We ate cupcakes and gave him his birthday shirt. We missed our French lesson on Friday because Madame was under the weather. We had a great week!

Have a good three day weekend, Mrs. Groves and Mrs. Pompa To see our photos from the week, click here. The Investigators had a fun week. We spent some of the week talking more about trains and the parts that make them. We also introduced our new month of February and the upcoming holiday, Valentines Day. On Monday we had yoga where we got to work on our favorite poses like the downward dog, the snake, and the turtle. We also enjoyed practicing our namaste. It was exciting to see the Investigators using their understanding of trains and creating their own railroad and train using the chairs and toys in our classroom. During choice time the students created this train on their own, then we took some time to discuss the different parts of their train. On Tuesday we creates a train out of our favorite shapes including rectangles, circles, a square, and a triangle. The students took the time to glue the shapes to the paper and assembling them to look like a train. On Wednesday we introduced our upcoming holiday of Valentines Day. We learned that V is for Valentines Day and Valentines Day is when we tell our family and friends 'I love you'. We also learned the shape for Valentines Day is a heart. We used cut up pieces of paper and glued them in the shape of a heart for a Valentines Day card. On Thursday we finished these cards by coloring them and drawing a picture on the cards. On Friday we began a project that will be given to our parents for Valentines Day. We worked very hard to create these special projects. The Investigators had a great week!
