_This week we welcomed our new friend, Drew. She has quickly fit right in to our little group and our routine. Our whole class is really getting adjusted to our class schedule. We are starting to be able to anticipate what is coming next in the day. We all know that we wash our hands when we come in from outside, and we know that we take a nap right after lunch. Our eating and sleeping habits are continuing to improve. We were also able to start working with different textures this week. Exposure to a variety of textures will help us to develop our senses and our fine motor skills. On our walks we were able to feel the leaves, the moss, and the pine straw. We also had a water day where we were able to splash in the puddles with our feet and play with the bubbles in the water table. Additionally, we played with shaving cream and play dough this week. It was a great week of exploration. If you would like to let your child play with play dough at home, we can give you a good recipe for homemade play dough. It is made from flour and salt, so if she happens to put it into her mouth it won’t make her sick.

This week was another awesome week. We've been able to go on a nice, relaxing walk each morning. We've also been able to join the Investigators (2s) class for water play a couple of times this week. Another activity we had fun with this week was yoga. Ms. Brittney taught us the "downward dog" and "the baby pose". This was great exercise and great fun. In the classroom, we are continuing to work on routine. We're learning to wash our hands when we come in from outside and before we eat. We all know that we have to sit at the table to eat and drink. And we say "please" when we want something and "thank you" when we're given something. We're all setting into the routine very well. This week Mrs. Tallent had the opportunity to attend the Early Childhood Summit at the College of Charleston where Dr. Jean was a guest speaker. It was a great source of ideas and inspirations for our classroom, and she is excited to try out and share some of the great things she learned there. We had a great first week in our brand new class. We met our new teachers, Mrs. Tallent & Mrs. Bergmann. We also met all of our new friends - Robert, Colton, Naomi, Max, Finley, Logan, & Hannah Grace. This week we had our first music class with Ms. Cooke, which we absolutely loved. We sang, played instruments and danced. On Wednesday we had our first yoga class with Ms. Brittney. So far, we aren't sure what to think of yoga yet - but we did try some of the moves. Each morning this week we have been able to go out for a nice walk around the Cypress Wetlands which provides a great opportunity for building vocabulary. We love looking at and talking about the water and the birds there. In our classroom, we are working on using our manners. We are learning to sign and say "please" and "thank you" at appropriate times. It's been a fun first week. We can't wait to see what next week has in store! |
