In our class to week we continued with our letters by doing S for Santa and star. Each child created a beard for the Santa picture using cotton balls. We also had a picture with stars on it that could be colored in; some children even made patterns on their pictures. We have been practicing our songs for the holiday performance on Monday and I can't wait for everyone to see. Just a friendly reminder: All toys from home need to stay home unless if it's a lovey for rest.
In our specials this week we had yoga, sign language, music and Spanish. In yoga, we practiced all of our poses that we know and sang a song that is a class favorite. In sign language with Ms. Julie, we practiced our song for the holiday performance using the signs. We also read a book about Christmas. In music, we learned two new songs, "Brush your Teeth" and one about being excited about being in school. We also got to play with tambourines during the Brush Your Teeth song. Spanish Update 3's: ¡Feliz Navidad! In Spanish we decorated arboles de Navidad (Christmas trees) with estrellas (stars), and practiced saying ¡Feliz Navidad! This also gave us the chance to practice colors, shapes, and politeness expressions. We learned that children in Spanish speaking countries also celebrate Christmas by decorating a tree. We are excited to perform the song Noche de Paz ("Night of Peace" or Silent Night) for you on Monday! new words: adornos (ornaments), arbol (tree), estrella (star), Feliz Navidad (Merry Christmas) Our photos are here.

In our class this week, we have welcomed a new student - Naomi Troncoso. We are happy to know her! During our small group time this week, we learned about patterns, that the letter C stands for candy cane and T stands for tree.
In Sign language, we learned signs revolving around Christmas. We learned santa claus, present, elf, candy cane, Rudolph, and Merry Christmas. We also started practicing our song for the holiday performance with the different signs; we will have to do lots of practicing. In studio, we spent time observing a poinsettia plant. Then we used a variety of different tools to paint our own version of one. We had pointy sticks to create the clusters and differently shaped sponges for the leaves and petals. Next week we will continue practicing our songs for the holiday performance as well as start our holiday take home projects. We will also be continuing learning about the different letters and the sounds they make. Have a great weekend! Ms. Condon, Mrs. Tallent and Mrs. Trice Here is our update from Señora Zoë: Politeness in Spanish part 2: In Spanish this week we continued practicing good manners by playing "pass the snowman"--we had to use por favor (please), gracias (thank you), and de nada (you're welcome). We also counted by feeling how many jingle bells were hidden in a stocking. We continued to work on weather and calendar activities, and planned our own piece of art representing the weather. Practice saying "gracias" and "de nada" with your child! new and review words: por favor, gracias, de nada, hace sol (it is sunny), hace frío (it's cold), llueve (it's raining) You can find our photos here. This week has been a transition week for everyone. Mrs. Pompa's last day at LBS was on Monday and we got a new teacher who joins us for lunch and in the afternoons, Mrs. Trice. Mrs. Tallent is the morning teacher with Mrs. Condon. We had a goodbye party for Mrs. Pompa on Thursday afternoon, and it was very sad for all of us but the children all helped to decorate the porch with pictures they made. We will all miss Mrs. Pompa but we wish her safe travels and the best of luck in California.
In the next few weeks before Christmas, we will start working on some new projects along with practicing our songs for the holiday performance. We have already started practicing our songs and it has been going great and we can't wait for all the parents to come watch us on stage at the holiday performance. Have a great weekend! Ms. Condon, Mrs. Tallent and Mrs. Trice Our photos are here. |
