The Investigators had a great week learning about how a family tree is formed. We learned that a family tree consists of a family organized in the shape of a tree. Everyone has their own personal family tree! On Monday we had yoga and enjoyed doing the butterfly pose and downward dog pose. We also placed family blocks on the table to remind us who was in our family. We then drew a picture of our entire family. On Tuesday we had a special outdoor collaborated circle time with the three year old class! we loved being able to share our circle time routine with them and share our letters with them. We also took the picture we drew Monday and added the tree. We painted our entire hand and arm brown and stamped it on the paper, it looked just like a tree! On Wednesday we had sign language where we began to discuss our colors. We learned the signs for the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, black, brown, and white! We played a game where we had to guess which color Miss Julie was signing and put the ball on that color circle. We also finished our family trees! We added leaves to our tree by gluing them on. There was one leaf for each member of our family and the leaves were labeled with our family members' names. On Thursday it was National Talk Like A Pirate Day, what a fun holiday! We did our whole circle time in pirate voices and practiced saying things like 'Ahoy Matey' and 'Argghhh'! We went on a special pirate walk looking for treasure. On the walk we saw two baby alligators! When we found our treasure it ended up being the cantaloupe we ate for snack, it was yummy! On Friday we had French we enjoy practicing some of our French words and learning new ones. We also did a painting using some of the shapes we've been practicing at circle time. The shapes we've been practicing are circle, triangle, square, rectangle, and diamond, which can also be called a rhombus! It was a great week! Have a great weekend, Mrs. Groves and Mrs. Pompa The Investigators have had another great week. We are continuing on our journey in having a better understanding of family. Since it was officially Grandparents Day on September 8 we took our focus from the overall family to Grandparents and Grandfriends this week! We continued practicing our signs for Grandma and Grandpa, we discussed all of the different names we can call our Grandparents, and how our Grandparents are our Mommy and Daddy's parents! On Monday we started out by talking about our upcoming trip to the Helena House. We practiced singing three songs we enjoy and would be singing on Thursday which are 'All the raindrops', 'If your happy and you know it', and 'Bear hunt'. We also colored cards for our Grandfriends as presents. Monday we had our first day of Creative Movement. We loved it! We got to practice things like balance and gross motor skills through playing with stuffed dolphins and hula hoops. On Tuesday we began creating cards for our Grandparents and Grandfriends for Grandparents Day. We drew pictures then glued a quote onto the card. On Wednesday we finished our card by painting our hands and adding a handprint onto each card. We also continued to practice our songs for Helena House. Thursday was our big trip to Helena House! We got to go and visit with our Grandfriends. We loved singing for them, but our favorite part was handing out the cards. After the Helen House we got to have music! It was a fun day. On Friday we talked a little about the extended family which included Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. We used people blocks to discuss the entire family. We also created a collaborative piece of art using our letters. We got to color and stamp our letters. It was a great week! Enjoy your weekend, Mrs. Groves and Mrs. Pompa _Hello Investigators! We started off our short week with continuing our discussion about family. Throughout the week we talked about the signs for Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister, Grandma, Grandpa, Baby, and Family. Now we are to a point that I can say one of the words and the class automatically remembers and shows me the sign! We focused this week on the members of our family and who makes up our family. We started off Tuesday by talking about where our family lives. We drew a picture of what our house looks like, we used the drawing for another project later in the week. On Wednesday we had sign language. The special teachers will be taking their content and relating it to what we are learning in our class. This week Miss Julie talked about family as well. She reviewed the signs and gave us a greater understanding of the signs for Mom, Dad, and Baby. After sign we took the time for each child to share their family picture and show the class who was in their family. They loved introducing their families to their friends. On Thursday we took our drawings of where we lived and decided to add our families to them. We did this by making a ‘thumbprint family’. Every child picked their favorite color paint and made a thumbprint for each family member. We will be hanging up our thumbprint families with our family pictures from our family tree! On Friday we had our first French class! We were incredibly interested and focused in what Madame Zravatt had to teach us. After French we all had a photocopy of our family picture and got to color a drawing around our family. We will take these papers and form them into a family book that we can look at during the day. It was a great week! Have a great weekend, Mrs. Groves and Mrs. Pompa |
