The Investigators had an exciting week! With the holidays quickly approaching we've been preparing for our performance. We learned a whole dance and have been practicing our singing. On Monday we had yoga, we loved doing some of our favorite poses with Miss Brittney. We got to travel on a fire truck and car! We also began to talk about snow. We learned that snow happens during winter, which starts with W, when it is cold outside. We learned it doesn't happen often where we live, but some places it snows a lot. We used watercolors to create a resistance painting. A snowflake was drawn with crayon on a white piece of paper. Then the children used their favorite colors to paint over the snowflake and magically the snowflake appeared. On Tuesday we began to work on our special presents for our parents. We can't say much except it involved painting and we worked very hard on them. On Wednesday we continued to learn more about snow. We read a book about snow and talked about snow being cold and white. We took a piece of paper with a taped snowflake on it. Then we painted with blue and white. When we peeled the tape off the snow flake was still there. We also had sign language where we learned some Christmas signs including Santa, Christmas, stockings, reindeer, and elf. We also began to prepare for our performance by learning the twelve days of Christmas in sign language, we continued to work on this through the week. On Thursday we finished our parent projects with more painting. We cannot wait to give them to our parents! We also had music where we practiced singing some of our favorite carols that we would sing at the performance next Friday. On Friday we began to make special cards for our parents to go with our gifts. We also had French and we learned some Christmas words in French.
A reminder that next Wednesday we will be having a pajama party for 'The Night Before Christmas'. You are also invited to send in something special for your child to share about their holiday tradition for Wednesday. Have a great weekend! After a long break, welcome back! The investigators have had a great week! On Monday we had Creative Movement with Ms. Sue. She had us split up into groups of four, for some more one on one time. This time we did different activities on the porch. We had a fun time passing the ball to each other, jumping up and down, and tumbling on the mat. On Monday we also welcomed a new friend to our class, Cosmo. We did a great job at making him feel welcome, and helping him out so he understands the rules of the classroom and feels comfortable. We are enjoying having him!
On Tuesday we began to talk about Winter, since the actual start of the Winter season is just around the corner. We discussed the different things that we can use to help keep us warm outside, such as; pants, hats, jackets, boots and mittens, and gloves. After talking about these different articles we use, we decided to make our own mittens. We started out by tracing the shape of our hands onto contact paper. On Wednesday we started practicing some of our holiday songs for our Holiday Performance in a couple of weeks! We are practicing “Jingle Bells, Frosty the Snowman, and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”. We are also working on different movements and gestures to go along with these songs. We will also be doing “Twas the Nigh Before Christmas”, that Ms. Julie will be teaching us next week. Also we took the next step in completing our mittens. Using the contact paper we traced our hands on, we added some tissue paper on the sticky side, and when we decided it was just right we added on the other side of contact paper to hold our mittens together. This will give us a sun catcher effect. On Thursday the rest of the class finished up their mittens. We also added some string to hold them together for when we hang them up to catch the light of the sun. This was also a sad day for the Investigators. We said “goodbye” to Casen. He and his family are starting a new chapter in their lives in the Atlanta area due to a change in jobs. We will miss Casen and his family. He has been such a great friend to us and so much fun to be around. We wish him and his family the best of luck! On Friday we had French with Madame Gravatt. She is continuing to teach us the basics such as “hello, goodbye, and please”. We are also perfecting “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes”. Our colors are starting to come together as we are catching onto this language the more and more we see Madame Gravatt. We were also introduced to a new song, “Frere Jacques”. Some of us had already known this song a little, but it was new to most of us. We hope you all have a great weekend! We look forward to our Holiday Performance in just a short couple of weeks!!
