Thank you for coming out to our Holiday Performance last week! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. I am so proud of how well the children did and how much work they put into our show.
Another thank you for making our pajama drive a success! We collected 30 pairs of pajamas to donate to children who don't have warm pjs, and our children were so happy as the pile kept growing and growing. We had multiple heart-warming conversations about how we can help people we love and people we don't even know during the holiday season. Our giving tree for the grandfriends was also a huge success! Thank you to everyone who was able to provide some simple treats and necessities for our friends at the Helena House. We love our monthly visits there and were happy to see their smiling faces today. We have spent this week introducing sewing and getting started on that skill set. The children have really impressed me with how quickly they adopted the techniques! They really enjoyed making their Christmas gift for you, and we hope you enjoy it. We are continuing to identify different patterns such as colors and shapes, and we used buttons to illustrate this. We are open Monday-Wednesday next week and the week after. Have a great weekend! Denise turns 5 on Saturday the 19th. Happy birthday, Denise! Molly Fastenau Our photos are here.

Our Pajama Drive will continue until Thursday December 17, so if you haven't and are able to donate a pair of new pajamas, please do. The kids have been excited to count them each day.
Next week we will continue our talks about why it is important to think of others during the holiday season and how we can help people we know and love. We will be working on some gifts and songs. We have practiced so hard for our holiday show, and we hope you enjoyed it! Thank you for all your help! Our Christmas visit to the Helena House is Friday December 18, and you are welcome to come. This week in Spanish we learned "Las partes del cuerpo," or the parts of the body. We read "De la Cabeza a los Pies," (From Head to Toe) by Eric Carle, and acted out the movements. Then we had a "body race" to see who could identify body parts fastest. And of course, sang "Cabeza Hombros Piernas Pies" (Head Shoulders Knees and Toes)! Please let Mrs. Willis or me know when/if your child will not be here over the Christmas break. We are closed Dec. 24, 25, 31, and Jan 1. Have a great weekend! Our photos are here. We've been incredibly busy this week taking on a service project while rehearsing for our holiday performance next week! Since we start collecting pajama donations next week, we designed and decorated our own. They'll be displayed in the hall to remind all the classes about the Pajama Drive.
I won't give away too much, but our songs for Spanish and Sign are sounding and looking great! Our play is coming along well, too, and we're so excited to share with you. As far as costumes, on Friday the 11th we'd like to see the elves in red and/or green tops (jeans, khakis, whatever pants) and the reindeer in brown clothing. We are handling the other props. There are so many fun activities scheduled this weekend, so I hope everyone has a happy, busy time. The Pajama Drive starts Monday! The collection box will be in our room. Thanks!
