This week we got to go visit our "grand-friends" at the Helena House. We sang and danced for them, and we even got to share popsicles with them. On Friday we celebrated our last day in the Explorers class with a water day. It was so much fun!! We had pools, water tables, and sprinklers. We even got to play in bubbles. What an awesome way to end an outstanding year!! Thank you so much for an absolutely wonderful year. We couldn't have asked for a better set of children or a better set of parents. We will miss our morning walks and our shared learning experiences. We know that all of our children will do great things in their next classes. Mrs. Groves and Mrs. Pompa are so excited to have your children in their class for next year. We hope that you'll be able to join us on Sunday at 2:00 for our Open House. This is your child's opportunity to explore his/her new classroom, as well as an opportunity for you to speak with the teachers and ask questions. Thanks so much for a GREAT year!! We'll miss you guys!!

This week everything seemed to be wrapping up from the school year. We had our last Yoga class with Ms. Brittney and our last Sign Language class with Ms. Julie. Ms. Julie taught us some signs related to going to the beach. We learned to sign sunglasses, hat, towel, bucket, shovel, chair, sunblock, sand, water, and toys. She even brought some of these items for us to hold and play with. What a cool way to introduce the summertime! We also had our last birthday in this class. On Tuesday, Grayson turned two. We got to have cupcakes, but Grayson's mom also brought in some of Grayson's favorite treats to share. We had yogurt and Mickey Mouse shaped cheese. What a great way to celebrate! Since our year is coming to close, we also spent a lot of this week working on the transition from our class (Explorers) to the next class (Inquirers). During lunch, we began trying to serve ourselves. We were able to use the serving spoon to scoop food onto our plates. We used the plastic tongs to grab food and put on our plates. We got to use the small pitchers to help pour our own milk.we even got to eat our snack on a napkin and throw it away when we were done. It was a little crazy and somewhat messy, but we did really well. And we were really excited to learn. On Friday we got to have our first water day of the season. It was so much fun!! We got to run through the sprinkler, wade in the pools, and play in the water tables. We even got to play with toy boats, chase bubbles, and splash in the puddles. We didn't all want to play directly in the water, but we all had a great time together!! As we begin to close out our year together, we want you guys to know that it has been a joy to work with you and your children this year. They are outstanding little people and you guys are an amazing group of parents. We couldn't have asked for a better year! Thanks again for all of your help and cooperation! Have a great weekend! _The past couple of weeks have been very exciting! Last week we spent the entire week preparing for our Portfolio Night. And what an OUTSTANDING night it turned out to be. We had so much fun sharing with our parents all of the things we have learned this year. Now the next few weeks will be spent preparing for the transition to our next class. We are now drinking from cups without lids, and we are adjusting our daily schedule to match the Inquirers Class. Starting next week we will be learning to help serve our own food during lunch. These are things that will help our transition to go much more smoothly. On Friday last week we got a visit from the Traveling Preschool Bus. We got to go onto the bus and explore. There were puppets, puzzles, a play kitchen (complete with food), a pretend cash register, and much, much more. We could have spent all day on the bus. What an awesome opportunity for us! This week we had our first Dance Class. Ms. Erin had us standing up, sitting down, and reaching for the sky. We were so excited to meet her and see the things that she had to teach us. She will be coming to teach us dance every other Monday alternating with Yoga (this will continue into the next class). We also had Music class this week. We got to clap our hands, stomp our feet, shake hands, and even high five. After shaking all of the wiggles out, we got to play with a stretchy, colorful rope. We love it when Mrs. Cooke comes to visit! We can't wait to see what fun we can get into next week! Thanks for all of your help and cooperation. You are a big part of what makes our class a success. Have a great weekend!! This week Mrs. Willis was able to join us for our walk. We got to share with her the things that we see each day. We showed her the blue herons, the red cardinals, and the white egrets. We got to show her the fire trucks, the police cars, and the school bus. What fun it was to show her all of these things. We also had Music this week. We got to lift and shake the big colorful parachute, and we used the musical instruments to create our own "jam band". We love it when Mrs. Cooke comes to visit with her guitar. Recently we have worked on getting ready for Move Up Day. Almost all of us are sitting on the potty at least once a day. We all drink water from regular cups during snack times. Next week we have plans to get rid of all lidded cups, even during breakfast and lunch. We are also going to try to begin self-service during lunch. The goal is by the time we move up to the next class we will be able to participate in what is called "family-style dining". This simply means that we will be able to at least help serve our own food and pour our own drinks during mealtime. This process may take us a little patience to learn, but we'll be pros in no time. Just look at all of the things we've learned so far! Most of this week has been spent preparing for next week's performance. We have been practicing a special song for Music and a special book for Sign Language. We can't wait to share them with you!! We hope everyone has plans to join us in celebrating the year that we have spent in the Explorers Class. This night will be your opportunity to view your child's progress throughout the year. You will also be able to see the projects we have worked on. Then the night will wrap up with performances from each class in our school. It's going to be a wonderful night for our Little Brown School family!! |
