What a great week the Investigators had! Since we've been focusing on colors we read the book 'Pete the Cat' by Eric Litwin. For those who don't know Pete the Cat he is a cat who has some cool white shoes, then he steps into different things like strawberries which turns his shoes different colors. It is a great way for the Investigators to not only learn their colors in a fun way, but use their predicting skills to decide what color his shoes will turn next. On Monday we made our very own Pete the Cat shoes! We got to pick our favorite color shoe and decorate our shoes with crayon. Tuesday we began to talk about the Fourth of July. We learned we live in America and the Fourth of July is a time to say, "Yay America!" We also learned that the colors for America are red, white, and blue. We talked about how sometimes they show fireworks on the Fourth of July. Then we created paintings of fireworks by using pipe cleaners and red, white, and blue paint. The paintings were a great practice for fine motor skills! We made these paintings into cards and it was explained that we should give these cards to people who help America. The cards will be sent to a deployed Marine Corps Unit as Fourth of July cards! On Wednesday we learned something new about America. We learned there is a flag just for America and it has the American colors. We made our own American flag using our handprints to hang in our room! Wednesday we had our first sign language class of the summer. We learned signs that had to do with the Fourth of July. We learned America, flag, firework, hotdog, hamburger, red, white, and blue. On Thursday we got back to Pete the Cat. We got to listen to the recording of Pete the Cat during circle and we loved it! We finished our shoes by gluing on foam shapes to decorate our shoes and string as shoe laces. On Friday we had an American themed water day! We used all red and blue toys with red and blue water. It was a great week! Remember to check the whiteboard each day to see what we did and if you need diapers or pull ups. Have a great weekend! Mrs. Groves, Mrs. Pompa, and Ms. Channing

What a great third week the Investigators have had! On Monday we enjoyed a terrific Yoga session with Ms. Brittney. We always enjoy doing the butterfly pose, downward dog, and the crab walk. Taking a bicycle to the beach to see elephants was such an adventure that we all enjoyed imagining. We also traveled to the zoo where we saw dinosaurs and tigers! We always love making our own class train to travel around many other places that we enjoy; this week we even got to ride horses to get to our destination. On Tuesday we enjoyed a relaxing morning walk with our friends next door (the "babies" and Miss Tina, and Mrs. Tallent). We walked around our neighborhood and through the wetlands. We always love looking at the birds and searching for alligators. We practiced our fine motor skills this week by using Play-Dough to shape, roll and cut. Colors are something we all enjoy learning, so to put our color skills to the test we enjoyed making our very own handprint rainbow using all of the different colors that we see in rainbows. Since we loved reading our first Pete The Cat, we were introduced to Pete The Cat, I Love My White Shoes. This book not only teaches us to not sweat the small stuff, but we can practice our colors using this book. We have improved so much more on our new routine this week, and especially on our lunch serving skills, and being patient while we wait for all of friends get served and while we sing our "Thankful" song. Singing songs has also helped us in learning our days of the week, and our ABC's which we love to practice. This summer Fridays are our water days! We all look forward to water days because we get to have some messy, wet fun with our friends, and stay cool while being outside! Have a great weekend! What a great second week The Investigators had! Although Mrs. Groves is on vacation for this week and the next, we have had enjoyed having Ms. Alex in our class! Although it is only our second week are doing great at potty training! We're not perfect yet, but everyone at least sits on the potty! Monday was a busy day, we had our first dance class as Investigators with Ms. Erin! We had so much fun dancing like monkeys, and doing some great dance moves as a class. We practiced doing a sequence of moves starting with tap, tapping our nose, our shoulders, our knees, the ground, jumping up and turning around. We made a big friend circle and danced together! We had a “photo shoot” on Tuesday which is where we started a special project for our Dads for Fathers Day! Along with all the fun activities we have been doing we have been working really hard on getting our routine down, and learning a few new changes for lunch. We now have serving dishes at our lunch tables, along with a pitcher of milk. We are working on hand over hand serving, and waiting until all of our friends have been served so that we can all eat together at the same time. We are doing great at this and are learning to be patient. Thursday we went on our first WALK through the wetlands! It was a hot, humid morning but we loved it. We were able to see so many different birds that live near our school, and we got to listen them as they flew by and sat around in the trees. There were two alligators in the water that we all pointed out, we even got to hear and imitate the sounds that they make, we had lots of fun doing that! Friday is our Water Day! This is perfect for this hot humid weather, what a great way to stay cool and have fun outside with all our friends! Our Fathers Day projects are complete, so please make sure that you check your child's mail box inside our classroom! Always take a peek inside the mailbox to see if there are any other projects to take home during the week as well. We write down what we did for the day on our white board near our cubbies, as well as if your child needs more diapers/pull-ups, so please check on a daily basis. We hope everyone has a wonderful Fathers Day weekend, and we hope you enjoy your child's project! See you all on Monday! Once again we would like to extend our welcome to the Investigators classroom! We are excited to start a great year with a great group of kids! This week was a perfect beginning. Monday was a fun first day. We had yoga in the morning with Miss Brittney. We had fun using our imaginations to travel to the beach and doing the crab pose, then traveling to the zoo and doing the elephant pose. We also started our 'first day of school project' which will be part of our portfolios. We started it Monday by having our handprints on the first day of school and having our pictures taken on the first day of school. Tuesday we were talking about colors at circle time, along with the days of the week and the weather. After circle we went to the tables and colored a picture of our favorite part of circle time! Some of our friends enjoyed singing the hello song, others enjoyed identifying the colors of their favorite toys. We also had fun playing with play dough and working on our fine motor skills when we tried to use scissors. On Wednesday we got to pick our two favorite colors and paint a clothes pin as well as on paper. It got pretty messy, but painting seems to be one of our favorite activities! Wednesday we also took some time to focus on gross motor skills by playing on the 'stumps' playground. We tried to walk on the tree stumps and jump off some of the small stumps. Thursday we had fun doing a sensory project. We got to paint three collaborated murals using our hands, feet, and even our bellies! It got extremely messy, but having water day right afterwards got us clean. We loved splashing in the pools and running through the 'rain' from the hose. Friday was a calm day we finished our 'first day project' by gluing the picture on our drawing of circle time and the hand print beside the picture all on one paper. It will be fun to see how much our hands grow! Overall, our first week was phenomenal! If you ever have any questions please feel to contact us - we are excited for the upcoming year and have many big plans for the Investigators. |
