The Investigators had a great week. We spent a lot of time playing outside and enjoying the beautiful weather. We continued to talk about school buses and what a school bus is used for. Monday we worked on some sign language that has to do with our current studies of 'what drives by'. We learned the signs for bus, truck, firefighter, lights, and airplane. We also had yoga where we enjoyed doing the crab pose and butterfly pose. On Tuesday we decided to paint a school bus. We took the time to paint with yellow and create a school bus on paper. On Wednesday we had sign language where we talked about the letters K and L. We learned the signs for K, L, lunch, lion, lizard, ketchup, kangaroo, and key. On Thursday we finished our school bus project by gluing on some of the parts we had learned. We glued on wheels, windows, a door, and a stop sign. This completed our school buses. We also had music where we talked about tempo and playing fast and slow. We also learned our portfolio night performance and began to practice. On Friday we went on a walk in search of a school bus. We didn't get to see a school bus, but we did see alligators, turtles, birds, construction workers, and police cars. It was a great week.

The Investigators had a great week. We continued to talk more about school buses and also discussed how excited we were for the upcoming holiday. On Monday we had creative movement where we practiced going forwards, backwards, fast, and slow in the tunnels. We did a great job waiting patiently and taking turns. Our favorite way to go through was fast. We also finished our collaborated school buses by gluing windows on. On Tuesday we talked about how during Easter there are often Easter eggs which the Easter bunny brings. We learned the letter E is for egg. We each picked our favorite color paper, which was cut in the shape of an egg. Then we got to paint our paper eggs with blue, purple, green, yellow, and orange paint. On Wednesday we had sign language where we learned some signs that had to do with Easter. We learned the signs for Easter, bunny, chocolate, egg, chick, and basket. We also finished our eggs by gluing on different colored pieces of construction paper as polka dots. On Thursday we got to walk to the Helena House and visit with our grandfriends! We loved singing Peter Cottontail and jumping to the Bunny Hop. We then got to meet the Easter Bunny and he gave us each an easter egg with stickers inside. It was an exciting week.
Have a great three day weekend, Mrs. Groves and Mrs. Pompa Our photos are available here. The Investigators had a great week as we continued our learning of 'what drives by'. This week we began to talk about one of our favorite things we get to see driving by, school buses! On Monday we began to talk about school buses and point out some of the things we know about them. We knew that they are yellow, they drive kids to school, and they drive on the road. We had yoga where we practiced some of our favorite relaxing poses such as the snake pose, the turtle pose, and the crab pose. On Tuesday we made the best of a rainy morning by playing puzzles and dress up. We also began a collaborated project of creating school buses for the classroom. We did this by painting. Some friends painted with yellow for the bus, some friends painted with black for the wheels, and some friends painted with red for the stop sign. On Wednesday we continued this project by gluing the wheels and stop sign onto the bus using teamwork. We also had sign language where we talked about some of the animals we might see in Beaufort during this time of year. We learned the signs for duck, alligator, frog, bird, and turtle. On Thursday we had music where we got to learn all about high notes and low notes. We practiced doing high notes and low notes using our voices, egg shakers, and boom whackers. On Friday we practiced writing the first letter of our names, which is a great fine motor skill exercise. We also got to see a presentation of different animals that are in the Cypress Wetlands. We got to see real animals including a snake and baby alligator! It was a great week.

Yes we spent a great deal outside, but we also had our focus on recognizing numbers. On Monday we reviewed our numbers in our classroom before going outside for an activity. After review we got to use our gross motor skills to run and jump to different numbers, drawn with chalk, that were called out. Each child got a turn at this. We really enjoyed this physical activity. On Tuesday we got to put our fine motor skills to work as we finger painted on poster board. After we decided that each one was finished we chose two to smash together and see the neat design that it made. After the paint was dry, the paintings were cut out into the numbers we've been working on recognizing. On Wednesday some of us got the chance to make up the finger painting activity. We also got to celebrate Naomi’s third birthday with her family. We always love having birthdays, we are very proud of the shirts we make for our friends. On Thursday we began to talk about the many different places we can find numbers. After some hard thinking, we realized there are many places in our classroom that numbers are present, like our clock, our weather meter on our window, our projects, our phone, and many of our books. On Friday we took a walk to see where we could find numbers outside of our classroom. We noticed numbers on mailboxes, houses, street signs, poles, cars, the fire truck, police cars, and many signs throughout the wetlands. We are missing Mrs. Groves this week, as she is back home with her family. Her mother is beginning her fight with cancer. Please consider helping them out by purchasing a T shirt. You can help out by visiting www.booster.com/bevsfight . We are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers. Any help or words of support from you would be most appreciated. Have a great weekend!
