The Investigators had an exciting week. We talked more about police cars and the police station where they live. On Tuesday we decided to go for a walk. On our walk we saw a baby alligator, lots of turtles, and a frog. We loved walking by the police station and looking at all of the police cars. We pointed out some of the parts we learned such as the wheels, the lights, and the wipers. On Wednesday we drew a picture of the police station with crayons. We also had Miss Kelleher in our classroom so we could get to know her and she could get to know us, as she will be one of our teachers in the big three year old class! On Thursday we had water day a day early. We loved splashing in the water, playing with the hose, and running through the sprinkler. On Friday we finished our police car drawings by painting a police car onto the drawing. We used red, blue, and white paint to make the police car which completed our projects. It was a great week.
You can see our photos here. We had so much fun this week that we forgot to take many photos. Have a good weekend, Mrs. Groves and Mrs. Pompa

The Investigators had such a fun and exciting week preparing for portfolio night. This week we focused on perfecting our performances and having everything ready for all of our loved ones to see. On Monday we had yoga where we learned a new warrior pose where we learned to lunge and walk like a warrior. We also practiced some of our favorites such as the cat and cow position and the downward dog. We also practiced our dinosaur song, sign language, and rhythm sticks for music. On Tuesday we had a special treat! Since we’ve been continuing to talk about everything that ‘drives by’, which includes school buses, we had a traveling preschool bus come to visit! We got to see the bus and go inside of it. This was no ordinary bus though, they had many activities and toys for us to play with, it was like a preschool inside of a bus. We had so much fun going onto the bus and playing with all of their materials. On Wednesday we had sign language where Miss Julie practiced our transportation song and traffic light poem with us. We have learned all the signs and are good and performing them. She also read us a book about the beach where we learned the signs for seashore and pirate. On Thursday we had an important dress rehearsal for our big portfolio performances. We practiced doing our dinosaur song on the big stage and using the microphone. On Thursday night we loved showing all of our parents, families, and friends our portfolios and performing for them. It was a special night. On Friday we had our first official water day! We loved being able to be in bathing suits during this hot weather and splash in the water. We loved the bubbles and the hose the most. It was a great week.
Our photos can be seen here. Enjoy your three day weekend! Mrs. Groves and Mrs. Pompa The Investigators have began to notice many things that are different in our environment as we are warming up into summer. Although the official first day of summer isn't until next month, we are feeling the heat!
On Monday we had creative movement. Mrs. Sue brought in some music for us to dance and move to. She also brought in her parachute! We got to different fun things with it, like lift it way up high so that our friends could run underneath and shake it back and forth and side to side. On Tuesday we began our flower project, which brought us through the end of the week. We have noticed that there are beautiful flowers popping up all around us. To help us get to know these flowers better, we have learned the main parts of a flower. We drew a diagram of a flower, then we each offered our own opinion of what each part was. We are focusing on the flower petals, seeds, stem, leaves, and roots. We are also locating these parts. We each got to make our own flowers this week and got to place each part where we thought it fit the best. When we were done with the placement, we labeled each part by gluing down the name of the flower part. On Wednesday we had Sign. Mrs. Julie is continuing to teach us a song using signs that we will perform for all the parents on Portfolio Night. So we cant tell you what it is, but, some signs we are working on are train, car, boat, airplane, red, green, and yellow. On Thursday and Friday we are finishing up our flower projects and working really hard for our Portfolio Night performances. Weather permitting we will be doing water days on Fridays. Bring in your gear if you haven't already. Have a great weekend! We are missing Mrs. Groves this week as she is back home to be with her Mom. We are missing her and can't wait to see her Monday. Please keep Mrs. Groves and her family in your prayers and thoughts as her mother continues her fight with cancer. You can find the photos from our week at school here. The Investigators had an exciting week as we continued to talk more about police cars. We also introduced the special holiday that was coming up and discussed what Mother's Day means. On Monday we started with yoga where we enjoyed working on our turtle pose, snake pose, and downward dog. We finished our stamping police car project by adding red and blue glitter for the lights. It really made our police cars come to life. On Tuesday we talked about how Mother's Day is when we tell our Mommys how much we love them and how special they are. We began our Mother's Day projects by painting with dark blue, light blue, and white. We painted the night sky and they came out beautifully. On Wednesday we had sign language where we began to practice for our portfolio performance. We learned some signs that have to do with what we are learning including car, airplane, boat, train, stop, wait, and go. We also continued to work on our Mother's Day projects by gluing on a ladder using pieces of string and gluing on a cut out of the moon. On Thursday we had music where we practiced for our portfolio performance using the sticks and we also got to use the parachute. We finished our Mother's Day projects by gluing on a picture of ourselves climbing the ladder and a note that says 'I love you to the moon and back'. It made a special present to give to Mommy. On Friday we had a very busy day. We started off by watching a program on recycling. We learned the types of things we can recycle like cans, newspaper, and plastic water bottles. We also learned that we out these items into a recycling bin. We continued our day by a special visit from Carter's Daddy who is a police officer. He came to talk to us about what police officers do and to let us see the police car. We loved looking at the different parts of the police car and seeing inside. Our favorite part was seeing the lights and taking turns pressing the siren. After the visit we decided to make a card for Carter's Daddy to tell him thank you for coming to visit. It was a great ending to a fun week.
