This week we had lots of fun with the color blue. We completed our ocean pictures by adding sea animals like turtles, dolphins, and sea stars. Then we displayed them on the window above the light table. On Friday, most of us wore blue to celebrate our study of the color, and our friend Naomi brought in blue jell-o for us to have for snack. We also saw some really cool animals on our walk this week. We were finally able to see the big alligator!! We have seen her once before but she was down in the water. This time we were able to see her whole body as she lay on top of the water. We were also able to see the beautiful flowers and the colorful butterflies. We saw orange and black butterflies and yellow butterflies. We even saw a couple of black butterflies with small yellow spots. It is so exciting to see all of the colors in our environment. On Friday we enjoyed sign language with Ms. Julie. She reinforced the signs we've already learned and started teaching us the signs for the colors. We are always happy to see Ms. Julie! Next week we will take our knowledge of the color blue and our knowledge of the color blue and mix them so we can start talking about the color purple. It will be so much fun to see how two primary colors can be mixed to form a secondary color. Thanks so much for all of your support. Have a great weekend!

This week we had fun with the color blue. We got to talk about the beautiful, blue sky with the puffy white clouds. We got to play with blue play dough and blue paper. We even got to play with a box that was filled with blue things. Ms. Laura added to the fun by bringing us blue balloons to toss around. In the classroom, we used shaving cream and blue food coloring to create an ocean. Next week, we will be adding creatures to our ocean and displaying it on the wall. Talking about the color blue gave us the opportunity to discuss our own personal characteristics. Several of us have blue eyes, and we extended this into a discussion of the color of our eyes. We learned that six of our friends have blue eyes, five of our friends have brown eyes and one of our friends has green eyes. It is so much fun learning about ourselves and our friends. Many of us can point out our friends by name, and some of us are even beginning to say our friends’ names. We were able to begin work on our service project this week. Each month, we will be creating a project to take to the members of our community to show them our appreciation. This month we are working on a poster for our “Grandfriends” at the Helena House. We will be going to visit them on the 27th to present them with our creation. Blue is such a fun color, and there are so many blue things in our environment. So we decided to extend our learning about the color for an extra week. If you can please dress your child in blue on Friday that would be great. Thanks so much for being so supportive of our learning. Have a great weekend!! This week, we began discussing the color blue. While on our walks we talked about the blue skies, the blue cars, and the blue flowers. I would say that we talked about the blue water, but most of the water we see along our walking path is green. To help us with our introduction to blue, Ms. Laura brought in blue stamps for us to create with and blue fabrics for us to play with. We were also able to play with some of the blue things we already had in our classroom. We will continue talking about blue next week. During Sign Language this week we were able to review some of the signs we already learned like eat, drink, milk, and cookies. In addition, we were able to add some new signs. We learned how to sign apple and juice. Ms. Julie even taught us some animal signs. We learned how to sign cat, dog, bird, and frog. Since these are all creatures that we see, Mrs. Tallent and Mrs. Bergmann have been able to incorporate the signs as we go on our walks each morning. We had a full house all week. We are all really learning to interact with our friends. Lots of us can say our own names and most of friends’ names. Some of us can even help pass out the cups to our friends during meal times. We’re all so smart and we’re learning and growing each day! Please remember to check the board in the classroom each day to see if your child needs diapers. This board also includes any news and announcements. Thanks and have a great weekend!! This week in the Explorers Class we welcomed our new friends, Carter and Benjamin. We now have all 12 friends, and our class is complete! We had a short week, but we continued talking about red things. We played with red balls and the red toys. Ms. Laura brought us some bottles with different red things in them. We had bottles with red balls in them and bottles with red chips in them. Each bottle also made a different sound when you shook it. What a cool idea! On Friday, our friends got to wear red. And our friend Naomi even brought us some red popsicles to eat. It was such an exciting week. We can’t wait to see what next week has in store! |
